“It’s never too late, it’s never too bad, and you’re never too old or too sick to start from scratch once again.”
Bikram Choudhury

I survived my first Bikram hot yoga session and to my surprise, although it was strenuous, it was energizing!

I have always been nervous and self-conscious about going to the gym or attending a group exercise class. But I pulled my nerves together and on July 1st went to Bikram Hot Yoga… AND I got this totally AWESOME pin!

At some point during the 90 minute session I no longer focused on the heat, that my exercise pants were no sticking to my legs, or being concerned that others were watching me. I focused on myself, breathing, trying my hardest, and enduring to the end. Yes, the positions were challenging and I found myself standing or sitting through most of the positions but the energy it took to stay focused, breathe, and stay in the room was exercise enough!

At the end of the session I felt like I had really worked out and even had some of the longest deep sleep in a while (according to my UP band – to be discussed in an upcoming post!). I woke up feeling revitalized, that my skin could breathe, and craving another Bikram yoga session. Everyone I have met at the Bikram Yoga Tempe Studio has been supportive and encouraging. I’m looking forward to future classes!

If you’ve tried Bikram or hot yoga, what has been your experience?

How do you prefer to work up a sweat?!
